Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a comprehensive medical system that has a history in China of over 4000 years. TCM holds that health primarily depends on the smooth flow of our vital energy called Qi, pronounced 'chee', and on the harmony of opposing forces known as Yin and Yang. These factors are all interlinked and, when in unison, maintain your spiritual, emotional, mental and physical balance. For this reason, TCM observes the body holistically, consisting of different internal organs which must work together as a whole in order to maintain the smooth flow of Qi and the correct balance between Yin and Yang.

Qi flows along certain pathways that run throughout the body known as meridians. Each meridian is closely related to certain organs in the body and connect with each other, forming a network of pathways for the flow of Qi. From time to time, balance in the body can be disturbed as a result of, for example, poor diet or emotional stress. When imbalance occurs, each organ produces a different pattern of symptoms. An in-depth history of your current symptoms and other aspects of your lifestyle will reveal where the underlying disharmony exists.

The aim of TCM therapy is to restore balance within the body by treating the root of the imbalance as well as the manifesting symptoms. Through this traditional system of medicine, harmony in your body can be corrected and health may be restored.
